On Monday I was pleased to welcome Ken Clarke to the constituency, and talked more about the dangers of a Hung Parliament

It was a pleasure to welcome Ken Clarke to Avon Rubber today. He again highlighted the concerns British businesses have over a hung parliament.

More information is becoming available about the possible impact a hung parliament would have on our economic recovery. This survey shows that a hung Parliament would be bad for Britain. It would raise real challenges because the world wants to see Britain dealing with its debts, start cutting waste, avoid the jobs tax and get the economy moving. Those things are more difficult with a hung Parliament. Some politicians would love a hung Parliament. They could sit around haggling and bickering over jobs, offices and pet projects. Only a Conservative government with a clear majority will be able to sort out the mess we’re in. Click here to read more about the dangers of a Hung Parliament.

I hear many concerns about our local issues here in Wiltshire which if elected I will work tirelessly to address. However, we have to recognise this seat in Chippenham is a crucial one on May 6th to the national picture. Your vote can make a difference to whether we have another 5 years of Gordon Brown or worse still a hung parliament with another unelected prime minister as the Liberal Democrats are now advocating.

A famous author, an inspirational entrepreneur and beautiful weather made Day Four on the campaign trail the best yet

This morning I was delighted to welcome author Michael Dobbs to the campaign trail in Bradford on Avon. Michael has written many political based novels and I hope he got some inspiration for his next one out with us.

It was another spectacular spring day in Wiltshire showing off the beautiful Bradford on Avon to its best. I popped back there this afternoon to say “Happy 90th Birthday” to Dr Alex Moulton of the Moulton Bicycle Company.

Dr Moulton is an inspiration to other entrepreneurs, his radical bicycle designs have spanned more than half a century. As a business man myself I have enormous respect for pioneers like Dr Moulton.

If elected I will continue to be a champion for local businesses in our constituency – who are essential to the future prosperity of our county, and country. As a businessman I understand what it takes to set up and run a business and also how challenging this may be. This is why I fully endorse the Conservative plans to reverse the planned 1% increase in National Insurance. I know how tough it is as an employer now, and know this plan by Labour will hurt small businesses most.

The day was rounded off canvassing in Gastard where I was meant with another sensory delight – this one visual. Thank you to everyone for the sea of blue posters that greeted me – if you still don’t have yours up, please find the sellotape now! Or if you need one just email wilfred4change@gmail.com

For more information about Michael Dobbs please visit: http://michaeldobbs.com/uk/index.php?id=21,0,0,1,0,0 and for more information about Dr Moulton please visit: http://www.moultonbicycles.co.uk/index.html
