The documentary following me as I fought to be your MP for Chippenham is due to air soon. For more information, visit the Channel 4 website here. As I said in a recent interview, I really hope it shows how difficult it is for someone to get into politics. The documentary is scheduled to air on June 6th at 7pm.

Thanks again to everyone for your kind words of support and for everyone that came out to help me during the campaign.

I have been humbled and touched by the generous support I received from so many people in this constituency, and I would like to say a huge thank you to every one of the 21500 residents for their support on May 6th.

As one of only a handful of candidates to receive that number of votes and not be elected I am thrilled by the level of support but, of course, very disappointed not to become your full time MP. Since I was selected some four years ago the Chippenham constituency became my home, I have grown to love the area as well as feel very committed to its residents and their concerns.

I would like to take this opportunity also to thank my local Conservative Association and all the volunteers for their incredible support throughout my campaign.

Finally, while I congratulate Duncan Hames, I would ask him to remember that although this country will be going through difficult times, this part of Wiltshire needs a strong voice and a fighter to represent its needs so I look forward to seeing him fighting our corner in the Commons. The people of this constituency have given you their trust – please don’t let them down because you will have me to answer to!

Today you can choose a new government and save Britain from five more years of Gordon Brown!

Only by voting Conservative today will you get a new Government tomorrow that starts cleaning up the mess we are in.

The final hours of campaigning have been fast and furious. It has been a pleasure to meet so many of you on the campaign trail – and thank you so much to all the volunteers who have helped.

Remember, a vote for the Liberal Democrats is a vote for five more years of Gordon Brown.

I very much hope I can count on your support at the polling station today, I may even see you there! I’m on your side.

Another frenetic day on the campaign trail – I visited companies, factories and spoke to people on the doorstep and our positive messages seem to be getting through.

If elected a Conservative government would make positive changes from day one and start to fulfil our no nonsense, no frills contract with the British people – to cut the waste, sort out the welfare mess, improve front line services and deliver change for the better. We won’t leave the poorest and the most vulnerable behind, because we’re all in this together.

We also published our contract for growth, setting out our plans to get the economy moving for everyone. Our contract sets out that a Conservative government will:

- cut government waste to stop Labour’s jobs tax, which threatens to kill the recovery;

- use government guarantees to get credit flowing to businesses and protect the economy from the risk of a second credit crunch, building on our plans for a National Loan Guarantee Scheme;

The Liberal Democrats’ policies for an immigration amnesty, to scrap prison sentences under six months, keep Labour’s jobs tax and join the euro would damage Britain and Wiltshire.

The only way Britain can make a fresh start with a new government on Friday is if you vote Conservative on Thursday. Any other vote could leave Gordon Brown in Downing Street.

The Liberal Democrats’ policies on immigration, crime and the economy would damage Britain. Labour only offer more of the same and their desperate campaign is designed to scare families, older people and the vulnerable.

From Friday, we will start to fulfil our contract with the British people – to get the economy moving, improve front line services and deliver change for the better. We won’t leave the poorest and the vulnerable behind because we’re all in this together.

Not such a sunny day, but an excellent team meeting in Pewsham before heading out on the campaign trail in Corsham.

I am sure many reflected on the previous night’s debate, and that I was not alone in seeing that Nick Clegg was out of his depth on the economy. He had the same style but offered no substance. And he failed to be straight with people on:

The Euro: he said he doesn’t advocate joining the Euro, but his Manifesto says we should.

Immigration: he said four fifths of people who come here come from the EU, but the independent figures show it’s less than a third.

An amnesty for illegal immigrants: he denied he supports an amnesty, but that’s exactly what his party proposes.

Welfare: he said people who refuse work shouldn’t get benefits, but his welfare spokesman says they should.

Whilst David Cameron launched his contract between the people and the Conservative Party, detailing what the Conservative Party will do for you if we win on Thursday. You can read the contract in full by clicking here

Jeremy Hunt and Eric Pickles joined me on yet another busy day on the campaign trail

Less sunshine today as we started the morning canvassing in Limpley Stoke. I was then delighted to welcome Jeremy Hunt, Shadow Secretary for Culture, Media and Sport, and his team back to Chippenham. Despite the weather we spoke to many people on the High Street in Chippenham. Thank you to everyone who has already voted for me my post!

Jeremy and I then went on to Good Energy, a very successful business on Monkton Hill. It was fascinating to find out how you can generate electricity through your own solar panel and then sell it to Good Energy – they are the only 100% renewable electricity company in the UK at this time. It was great to meet all the team – and thank you for having us.

It was a very busy day on the campaign trail with Eric Pickles, Conservative Party Chairman, visiting us at the Pewsham office in the afternoon. Eric spoke to the volunteers from my team and also the North Wilts team. It was then back out canvassing to Bowerhill.

And an excellent end to the evening with David Cameron showing that he is ready to be Prime Minister in the final televised debate. I hope you agree with this, and will vote Conservative next week to ensure we do not wake up on May 7th to five more years of Gordon Brown – and effectively a hung parliament really does mean that. Your vote in Chippenham really can make a difference.

Day twenty-three and the sun is still shining in Wiltshire. I have been out canvassing in Chippenham and Winsley and thoroughly enjoyed the hustings at Sheldon School at lunchtime – thank you for hosting such an excellent debate.

I have also been replying to the many emails and letters I have received and have been most interested by the range of issues that concern residents here in Wiltshire. If elected, one of the things I am keen to do is to listen to your opinions. I am not a career politician, I have independent views and will continue to do so. On some topics I believe it is best to listen to become better informed in forming my final point of view.

Thank you to all the volunteers who have again been out and about across the constituency

Outlining in one minute what I hope to bring to Chippenham should I chosen to represent you in Westminster

I stand before you today in the wake of an economic and political storm. There is much to be done and the challenges are great. But the time has come for renewal, a time to regain our hopes, a time to hold our heads high, a time to have faith in tomorrow.

My background was devoid of hope and aspiration but I was fortunate to be given opportunities allowing me to build up a successful business and create jobs and opportunities for others. I’m not a career politician, but my life’s experience of injustice has given me a fire in the belly to help others.

Where I live in Chippenham, every day I see the burdens placed on us all. I pledge I will be a strong voice for you in Parliament, fighting to improve our local services and keeping our open spaces. I will work hard to protect the NHS, champion our Town Centres and make it easy for local business to ply their trade.

The greatest honour I could be given is to be trusted with the things we all hold dear to our hearts, the chance to make a better tomorrow, and for that, we need change.
