Campaign Day Eighteen

Having a interesting meeting with angler Martin Bowler in Chippenham and highlighting the dangers of a hung Parliament in Corsham

73F6On another sunny Wiltshire day I met with my campaign team and fine tuned the final 2 weeks of the campaign.  Then back out to meet folk in Melksham, before having a very interesting meeting with angler Martin Bowler.

The evening in Corsham further reinforced my belief that we need a strong government in this country, and that the differences between our parties are too great to reconcile to take decisions in the event of a hung parliament.  In a hung Parliament the Lib Dems would be able to insist on their policies – so you need to know what they are:

  • they don’t support prison sentences for under six months – which would mean criminals like burglars and drug dealers would not be sent to prison;
  • they would join the Euro and allow European judges to extradite British citizens for an offence even if it is not a crime in Britain;
  • they say Labour’s jobs tax would kill jobs, but support it anyway;
  • they have not promised to protect the NHS budget;
  • they want an amnesty for up to 600,000 illegal immigrants; and,
  • they would scrap our Trident nuclear deterrent – and won’t say how they would replace it.

I recognise I am your local candidate here in Wiltshire, but your decision on May 6th will influence what happens in Westminster.
